Mangonui Waterfront Festival
It's funny how a day can start with potential disaster and end in glory.
We attended our first Mangonui Waterfront Festival this past weekend and what a day it was. The first hour saw a downpour of biblical proportions, which if you've seen our packaging had the potential to ruin a large amount of stock. Some hastily placed plastic sheeting and towels saved the day however and after that deluge thankfully the rest of the day was largely rain free.
After that minor set back it was six hours of meeting the people of the far north, telling salt tasting stories and of course selling heaps of our salty products. The addition of our Autumn and Winter flavours was a hit, with positive feedback on the smoked, juniper and sage, Szechuan pepper and mint and rosemary salts we launched this weekend. On the back of the feedback we've had there will be some minor tweaks before we add those flavours to our retail stores and the web store.
A big thank you to Nicki Jolly of Burnt Earth Pottery in Kerikeri for making sure we had some of her awesome salt pigs to sell. They look really cool in the style of Kina shells and we had heaps of positive comments on this new addition to our range of products as well as some new happy salt pig owners.
Finally thanks again to all of you awesome people who live up here in the far north. We love the concept of local people supporting local business and we thank you all for the support we have had in setting up this little venture.
